Uhh. This is the first of releases Hidden Beach is calling the Basement Tapes Series. music and footage pulled from the vaults. It’s SUPPOSED to look “low-tech” on purpose

for real? that’s what that is supposed to look like? it doesn’t. I’m just sayin – Jill has got some beautiful moments on stage, that smile?! omg. (i’ve captured more than a few) and this is the best still they found? I think you can accomplish a ‘underground’ or ‘low-tech’ feel and still keep it fresh & creative. & IMO, this ain’t it – Peep SIA’s album, low tech but fly & current & interesting to look at and makes me think its something new – this don’t look new and I thought, esp in this day & age, the goal is to sell units. and w/ that u gotta entice people to want the ‘real thing’ w/ some dope artwork. Obviously Jill is fly so I’m just wishing HB made sure the cover graphics were a lil tighter. Its all in the details… this is 2008

Can’t say that this cover is the most impressive representation of Jill Scott “live” that i;ve ever seen… there’s nothing “low-tech” about that woman’s live performance if you asked ME! Shit… everytime i’ve seen the girl “live” she’s made the hairs on my neck stand up! Just when you stop believing in someone out-do’ing their recordings on-stage… Ms. scott comes with that reminder. I see so many colors when i hear her sing… so many flavors fill the air when she graces the stage… she’s so rough, rugged & RAW! This cover doesn’t do her “live” talents justice… that’s just from a fan’s standpoint. But i realize that what a label thinks of an artist… and what another artist thinks of an artist… are two different things. This could be proof of that… it’s clean… but it’s also a bit boring for this artist considering the circumstance… my opinions are my own.
