This is a very cool way to promote the movie… if only for a select few! “Be Kind Rewind†director MICHEL GONDRY, who calls DEITCH PROJECTS home when he’s in NYC, recreated the movie’s artfully low-fi sets inside Deitch’s exhibition space where fans can run amok, shooting their very own movies as they went, thus transforming the art world into a “fun†place, if only for one nite. Gondry’s transformed the space right down to the gallery’s facade which became the movie’s video store for the occasion and in turn drew a line more than a block long that lasted all night in the cold nyc winter!

speaking of a few of our favorite NY things- Fashion Artist Mio (Urban Style Project) has me losing my mind with her ILL-ustrations and video shorts. The bite-size, always fly, artist has mastered full sensory satisfaction through her incredible fashion artistry and uptown NY representation. Filmmaker, photographer, illustrator, graphic artist, no bullshit creator, Mio’s at the top of the list for future artists to not sleep on. WOW WOW WOW.
We like the fro in the form of the sketched latina…
check out the Mio’s work (& the official street speakers, washington heights at its best) in part 4 of her ongoing 6 part “uptown shorts” series…fresh
more Mio…welcome to Uptown.

I caught dope chicks pickin fros at writer’s paradise this weekend for Lil Lisa’s 30th (screenwriter extraordinaire). Celebrations took place at the Flatotel with made from scratch cupcakes by Yum Yum top Chef Vanessa Cantave (insert 5 exclamation points here). We also stumbled upon dope author/writer/mega woman of the moment Mitzi Miller (Honey, Jane, The Vow, BET/VH1 special guest). Mitzi’s African American teen book series will be published in May- and I’m at the edge of my seat. Keep up with Mitzi at her blogspot.
Shout out to all of the dope ladies we ran into that night holdin NY down with fyah.
