This is a very cool way to promote the movie… if only for a select few! “Be Kind Rewind” director MICHEL GONDRY, who calls DEITCH PROJECTS home when he’s in NYC, recreated the movie’s artfully low-fi sets inside Deitch’s exhibition space where fans can run amok, shooting their very own movies as they went, thus transforming the art world into a “fun” place, if only for one nite. Gondry’s transformed the space right down to the gallery’s facade which became the movie’s video store for the occasion and in turn drew a line more than a block long that lasted all night in the cold nyc winter!

I mean, obviously its similar – but when a short skit from a sketch show gets turned into a full length movie, is it really biting? If they just did it on SNL or something, maybe, but MG has evolved the concept so… I dunno how much this matters – other than now you better cite all your sources bc the youtube detectives will get you!

In BIG political news today, it was just announced that Fidel Castro will be resigning and not seeking another term as president of Cuba. I know they are partying in Miami! This could mean major change in the policies between Cuba and the US. Perhaps it might get a lil easier to go because I don’t have a hook up at the pier (Miami Vice) and I’m trying to go visit! Who knows… this will be an interesting story to follow…
