Another of my favorite reasons to still go to newsstands just thru in the towel as far a print goes. Not to worry Mass Appeal will keep the dopeness coming with the on-line PDF version each month.
Blogs have made the act of reading a periodical a thing of the past with all the up to the minute news of
break-ups and make-ups, cars and sneaks.
.

Lifted from the Gawker
Adrian Moeller, publisher of Mass Appeal magazine, emails us to confirm that the hip hop lifestyle mag is in fact shutting down, as we reported yesterday: “After 12 years of publishing Mass Appeal Magazine we’ve decided to call it quits on the print edition,” he writes “We’re putting our resources into our faster growing properties, Missbehave Magazine and Colossal Media. We’re in talks to sell Mass Appeal, and it may resume publishing in the future. We’ll continue the website and special event productions.” So, not as bad as a sharp stick in the eye

Not too many left to buy off newsstands these days. Still cop Juxtapose, Wax Poetic, Intersection, Nylon Guys , Dwell, Shook, Complex from time to time.
What magazines keep you going to newsstands or do you subscribe to?

Uptown Saturday nights stay fly ’cause of things like Urban Style Project’s underground shopping parties. We stopped by the mega watt collective’s first sample sale event yesterday and racked up on exclusive designer pieces (think MISU, Ivette Urbaez, and even rare DKNY)

Designers Mio and Bianca held it down for Washington Heights by inviting other designers (male and female) to showcase their top pieces and give us fashion thirsty mortals something to get excited about… well, besides Frolab’s upcoming summer line of course…(soon come, soon come!)

We even got to chat with Ivette Urbaez who was on site with crazy dope gear for the ladies. What we love about Ivette’s pieces is they are original art, self printed on original cuts- and it all comes straight from her own dome. dope.

Between the New York backdrop (wow ladies), Presidentes, Asesina Volvio’s, and the unlimited supply of fashion art- Saturday was yet again another reason why we heart NY.

It’s spring in New York and the itch to shed the black on black gear has finally been scratched. Traipsed along the city not too long ago with up and coming fashion designer Nikka Valentine- we ran into the most hype, representin yet another new generation of New York. Cat’s were chillin in Chinatown randomly and upon mention of a pick fro moment, all came together to show us what’s to come…makin me wanna pull out my purple hoodie and lime laces.

If you have cable, and have Showtime, be sure to catch “Maxed Out” airing this month. If you don’t get the channel, definitely check out the DVD on Netflix or wherever. This is one of those documentaries YOU GOTTA WATCH if you ever swipe your credit card. Its SOOOOO REAL and very scary but more importantly, eye opening. Don’t get caught out there in credit card debt, and if you are, stop while you can - spend what you got. Credit card companies are CROOKS!!
