Wow. What a year to be a black man.

Fugee affiliate John Forte is reportedly one of 16 people who have received a reduced sentence or a pardon from US President George Bush.
Forte was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being caught with two briefcases filled with $1.4 million worth of liquid cocaine at Newark International Airport in 2000.
Forte wrote, produced and appeared on The Fugee’s multi-platinum and Grammy-winning 1996 album, The Score. He also released two solo albums, Poly Sci and I, John.
According to The Washington Post, Forte will be released from jail on December 22nd and will face five years of supervised probation.
Senator Orrin Hatch, singer Carly Simon and her son James, were among the people who advocated for Forte’s release.
“Now is the perfect opportunity for John to be given the chance to provide positive benefits to society through his considerable musical talents,” Hatch wrote to Bush in a January 2007 letter.
Forte was one of two inmates who received reduced sentences. Bush pardoned 14 others.

It took me taking a trip away from Hollywood to see some real live shooting stars! This weekend I ventured over to Santa Fe, NM visiting the Caba Company fam and the breathtaking night skies here led me to the web looking for some details on what all the stars, planets & constellations I’ve been seeing are - and wouldn’t you know it, I googled it and found Google Sky! Its just like Google Earth but with the stars and you can search for “the big dipper” or whatever you’re looking for. Also if you have downloaded the actual Google Earth app, it will tell you about the sky above your location. So next time its super dark wherever you are (sorry NYC and other ‘city’ folks!) if you need a guide, the omniscient google has got your back - as always! Kinda cool

I know its been two weeks and No Afromentals mixes to download. Must say i’m sorry myself. We had some much needed downtime the past couple of weeks and are just getting back into the swing of things.
Needless to say Dj Jamad and his Afromentals radio show on Sirius has been save by the merger gods at XM. Sad day for alot of our folks who had shows on both stations who didn’t make the cut. Whose to say how long Afromentals will last if they have the station go “Clean”. Until then catch the show on Sirius Hip Hop Nation Tuesday 12 am - 2 am EST and 9pm - 11pm WST.
