The Friday after Christmas, those who attended Kiss N Grind got an extra present! Shelia E rocked w/ DJ Rashida & Viktor Duplaix, performing classic frobacks, hers and others. Here’s a taste…

Also joining the percussion fun was Earth Wind & Fire’s Philip Bailey
Big ups to Rashida & MonaLisa for always showing love. I’d like to give an EXTRA thanks to Rashida for providing some EXCELLENT live music moments in 2008! Something about that “new power generation” concept is so on time right now!

Dj Rhettmatic
From Rhett: I just recently found some of my old recorded live mixes when I was still doing radio….these are mixes that I recorded for my aircheck (yes, the mix was live on the air. I recorded these for mix references) while I was doing my stint at the resurrected KDAY in LA with the homies, OG KDAY Mixmaster & West Coast/LA Radio Legend, Julio G & my fellow Beat Junkie member, Melo-D. This was during the years of 2005-2006. Julio G was on the air in primetime from every Monday to Friday from 6 to 11pm, with Melo handling the mixing duties from Mondays to Wednesdays, & Fridays at 7 o’clock at night while I was handling the Thursday nights at 7pm as well. Of course we had to play all the popular radio hits in our mix at that time, but the good thing though, we get to occasionally play & sprinkle some new dope shit in our mix to try to break in new songs (i.e. J Dilla, Madlib, Self Scientific, etc…) or play some classic Hip Hop songs as long they were sandwiched between radio hits.

Daz-I-Kue
From Daz: Hope all you your Xmas arrangement is going well.
Anyway I’m just want to give a little xmas tune to you as a way as a thanks for all your support so far. So check it, this a a festive rendition of old christmas hymn “Midnight Clear”, done with such soulful elegance by Rasiyah. We done this a few years ago and it came out on an obscure comp, which at this point I can’t recall what its recall…lol, but all I know it didn’t even reach the shops, and I think the time is right to give it an airing once again

from MTV:
John Forte will be released from New Jersey’s Fort Dix prison today (December 22).
Forte’s lawyer, Aarti Tandon, confirmed the rapper’s release to SOHH. “Yes, John Forte was released this morning,” he told SOHH. “He looks forward to spending the holidays with his friends and family.”
Pardoned by President George W. Bush late last month, Forte was free to go from a mandatory 14 year prison sentence. The Grammy winning artist has become one of the 16 people to have received a pardon or reduced sentence in the final months of the Bush Administration. As fans and family alike prepare for his return home, the Forte-supporting website www.freejohnforte.com has shared a special message reminding people of today’s importance.
“December 22, 2008 – Homecoming Day,” the site reads. “John is incredibly grateful for this second chance. He is looking forward to spending time with Family and Friends and wishes everyone Happy Holidays!”
Welcome home!
