So late last night (this morning) after the main concert at Nokia, Erykah Badu took the stage at the Sunset Strip’s legendary Viper Room for an impromptu jam session. Rumors circulated that Prince and Stevie Wonder would possibly show up, but Sa-Ra, Jimi James and a few other local folks were the only others to share the stage.
There was a cool moment when director Michel Gondry got on drums to jam with Erykah. I wanna thank Wes, apparently the lead singer of rock group Puddle of Mud, and his friend (sorry- remembering 1 name out of 2 is good for me!) for walking me in! I was kinda just there like, “I know I’m gonna know somebody” and while I didn’t know him, the fro starts up a convo every time! Shouts out to Paul Stewart (@nextthing) from Puma & the lovely afronista DJ Smiles Davis! Also to @wyldeflower, @mochilla, @artdontsleep and Proh Mic who were all in the building. @JayElectronica was also there but unfortunately didn’t bless the mic.
oh well, not everyone is down for the freeski rhymes!
Peep @fatbellybella perform the Georgia Anne Muldrow produced “Master Teacher” with Om’Mas Keith and Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra…
more frotos here & video of Erykah rockin out with Michel Gondry on drums after the jump! Stay woke!!
