A little over a year after the untimely passing of rapper Chris “Jax” Thurston, renowned Atlanta tattoo shop City of Ink will host an art show in dedication to Jax.

Entitled the “Who’s Jax” art show, the show will be presented by TheKaosEffect.com, Jungle 45, and Binkis Records on December 11, 2009.

“Basically the motivation behind the ‘Who’s Jax’ art show is a celebration and introduction to the brother Jax for those that knew him on a personal level to those that never got a chance to meet him,” rapper and good friend of Jax, Flux Wonda, told HipHopDX.com. “Visual art work expressing Jax’s character as a person and music. Bringing light to the legacy he already left with us. He and I started Binkis Records and within that Jax recorded five solo albums and a mix CD. Not to mention the countless amounts of collaborations. People need to know the brother.”

The “Who’s Jax” art show will include original pieces from artists from all over the city of Atlanta who were all very familiar with Jax. Aside from art, the event will also include the music of Jax which will be played throughout the night by DJ Mafioso, DJ Rasta Root, and DJ Fudge.

“[Jax] was not only an astonishing artist, but he was a fan, a Hip Hop encyclopedia,” rapper Senor Kaos explained to HipHopDX.com. “With his death there’s still so many people that are un-familiar with him. The ‘Who’s Jax’ art show is designed to not only keep Jax’s legacy alive, but also to show Jax in a medium people have never seen him before, and that’s on a canvas.”

A native of Queens, New York Jax moved to Atlanta shortly after graduating from New York’s High School of Art & Design to attend Clark Atlanta University. While in Atlanta Jax accomplished a great deal: he released several albums, helped form Binkis Records, and is said to have even recorded hundreds of songs that were never released.

Jax passed away on November 4, 2008 while performing on stage with his group Binkis Recs.
