This week B47 Breaks takes you back to 1999, Dil and I spent an event filled weekend in New York, NY at Electric Lady Studios. The place was on fire with The Roots recording with Common for, “Like Water for Chocolate” in one room, and D’Angelo occupying the another studio, developing his sophomore project to later be named, “Voodoo”.
We spent several hours there laying a track that D picked from Dillas beat tape on the spot. I wonder whatever happened to that track? Later in the session we were joined by Premo and The Alchemist where Pre played another track that never reached to light of day on Voodoo’s final cut.
This session probably would have never come about without the release of the unofficial remix of “Those Dreamin Eyes of Mine” on “Jay Dee Unreleased” from Houseshoes Records.
Join me as I reach into the history with a few interruptions from external forces. Big Shouts to Nasty Bird, DJ Akalepse, Spinna, D’Angelo, Russ Elevado, Premo and The Alchemist this weeks adventure.
Share and Enjoy!
