All i can say is WOW ! You go Bansky!!!!
The piece below was spotted on an old abandoned Chevron Station near Birmingham Alabama. (We’re told it’s somewhere between where the 59 Freeway meets the 65 going South near a large Home Depot on the 59.
And from New Orleans

I grabbed my slightly dysfunctional camera and frospotted some fresh art, cool people and good tunes at the 55 DSL store for the Seen on Audio exhibit. It was packed. Pete Rock was once again providing the right kind of head bop everyone could appreciate. The artists threw a fresh spin on the wall- And I even spotted a tea cup doggie sippin some Stella and snappin his paws to the Sound of Art (for this- you’ll have to check out frotos here…)

Definitely looking forward to seeing all the folks this weekend at Sunset Junction! J*Davey & Sister Nancy on Sunday are a MUST! Its kinda sad that Isaac Hayes was booked for this show and it will be very moving I’m sure to see Sam Moore do a tribute - HOWEVER - I would like to point out how wack it is that that tribute is going on at the same time as Antibalas!!! The whole ‘muti-stage’ festival concept is cool until they do 2 you wanna see at the same time! Not cool. But we’ll figure it out….

What a busy weekend! Sorry for the delay on the recap - but here we go…
Stacy rockin a custom Frolab dress!
What a night! Thanks for everyone who came thru and blessed the room with their energy and love. It was a beautiful crowd enjoying a beautiful view…
and most importantly, the beautiful MUSIC! DJ Kaleem, Cha Cha Jones, Proh Mic and Amdex
ALL kept the room feeling good and then Stacy Epps came on and DID HER ThANG!!
She sang the Flying Lotus produced track “Cosmic Dust”, one of my personal favorites produced by Amdex “Addicted”, the Madvillian track (that still gets stuck in my head!) “Eye” & of course the bangin single “Floatin.” Listen to a 22 minute montage of the audio from all my mpegs from the night that were too dark to post the video but we can still enjoy the music!!
Shouts out to her band Rhythm Child - Everette James on drums , Amdex at the tables & Rashida Ali on the flute! & lets talk again about the house and the VIEW!!

Los Angeles 180º around you! It was so beautiful to take in the whole experience. & also we MUST not forget to mention the visual art provided by frolaborators HVW8

Her pieces completely transformed the room and for those of you who were there you got to witness her talent in action as she did a live painting of Stacy.

emoniFela hosted the jam session with Computer Jay on the Fender Rhodes, J1 on drums & more artists adding to the rhythms…
& we had quite a few unexpected guests…
including Prince Po, Droop & DRES! We got some of Flava for the Month and lots of impromptu musical moments that are exactly what’s supposed to happen at jam sessions!
All in all - a really beautiful night. Many thanks to everyone who came out and to the crew -Charyn and Project MuzeEd, Kasey at VeeV, Asya and Fusicology, Asad from Footlong Development, Ty G at HVW8 and everyone at the House of Armour - Chris, Mike - and everyone who helped out before, during & after! The entire event was a fantastic frolaboration!!
The best of wishes go out to Stacy & EJ as they head over to Europe tomorrow for a few months of spreading the music with Roxanne Shante, Bahamadia, Yarah Bravo and Invincible. Cop the album “The Awakening” NOW AVAILABLE ON iTUNES! & also in-store at TurntableLab LA, FatBeats or buy it direct from her myspace page (recently redesigned by Frolab) www.myspace.com/stacyepps! Don’t sleep - this is 1 that your will WANT to listen to… more than once!! In this day and age there aren’t that many new albums that even get repeat status in the rotation - but you can’t even get tired of hearing her sweet and warm voice. & If you happen to be in a town she’s heading to, be sure to check her out!!

Lots to do this infinitely celebratory day! A few events worth checkin out -
The “Got Next” Obama Art show @ HVW8 starts early so that’s the first stop. We went by earlier this week during installation and it was very cool!
Can’t wait to see the finished show tonight…

Then, a free Nike event which should not disappoint. 88 drummers for 88 minutes starting at 808 at the LaBrea tar pits. The event is celebrating the launch of the Nikesportswear.com and the opening ceremony of the Olympics (set your DVR!!)
& we can wrap the night up at Echoplex to check PPP + Muhsinah + GLK + Kutmah.
Then we gotta rest up to get all the necessary energy for the ‘no relief from the sun, in the middle of the desert w/ no breeze, hot as you know where, i don’t drink enough for this’ experience… also known as ‘Rock the Bells’ on Saturday! I’m excited… honest. De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde - gonna be crazy!! Just bring the coconut oil and one of them umbrella hats. That sun is no joke!!
See ya there!

GoTellMama!
Got Next Tour 2008
GoTellMama! Is pleased to announce the general election Got Next Tour 2008 Art Series. A Traveling Art Exhibition of Barack Obama inspired works with stops in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Austin, Atlanta, Chicago and New York. The tour begins in July and runs through October.
The GoTellMama! Got Next Tour 2008 is brought to you by artist Ray Noland aka CRO. The show is part of a two-year artists run and operated independent political art campaign in support of Barack Obama. The previous Officially Unofficial Show was a huge success with exhibits in Chicago, Philadelphia, Raleigh and Portland during each of their states 2008 primary election. We are focused on communicating with voters in an array of contemporary grassroots methods such as a national street campaign of posters and stencil art, animated viral videos, and creative use of internet technology.
GoTellMama! was created in November 2006 while Noland was recovering from a severe bicycle crash - jaw wired shut for six weeks and mending a dislocated shoulder. The Chicago-based artist devoured Senator Barack Obama’s book, ‘Dreams from my Father’ and became consumed with the man and his story, but also the potential of his [Obama's] window into the 2008 election.
What began as the simple production of 25 (pre-ordered) limited edition ‘Dream’ screen-printed posters has grown into a collection of prints, stencil graphics, gocco prints, fine art pieces, animated videos, an aggressive national street campaign and a series of art exhibitions across the country.
The ambition of the GoTellMama! campaign is to heighten awareness of Barack Obama using non-traditional tactics. GoTellMama! exhibits the collection of screen-printed & offset posters, stencils on canvas, guest artists works, and original videos dating back to 2006. 10% of show sales donated to Obama for America.
About the Artist: Ray Noland is a Chicago-based artist and designer working under the alias CRO. He has been an artistic driving force behind the scenes for over 10 years, and is now trying to unshackle the political world from its outdated rules for campaigning. Noland has a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (’95) and has worked as art director for Scion & URB Magazines. His clients include, Ogilvy & Mather, Arc Worldwide, Burrell, FCB Draft, Eat/Drink & Vessel Ideation. His art & illustrations have been published in Straight No Chaser, Beautiful Decay, Victionary, ExitStrategy, Faesthetic, Yo! What Happened to Peace, Lumpen and XLR8R.

So the word is out (thanks OKP, On Smash, Nah Right and to the trailer too- it is quite a teaser). Video Rahim and I have been frolaborating on this documentary on Talib Kweli for sometime now (98-05) and because of some red tape, the doc has not been completed as of yet. So after 10 years of working on it, we decided to at least release the trailer for all the fans to see and - who knows - maybe add some pressure to the powers that be to help make this doc a reality for Kwe’s fans and fans of Hip Hop Docs. We shot over 200 hours of footage over them 10 years, including classic RE shows to Black Stars first performance in Atlanta… to me touring with Kweli on the Beasties tour and with him and Kanye West overseas.

So lets see what you the fans can do to help make this film see the light of day on your DVD player and not just on youtube!
Also check our reel (Nonstop MovieWorks aka “the Culture Capture Champs”) for some more classic spitage from MF DOOM, Jay Z, Oukast and more…

The now ‘untitled’ upcoming album from nasty Nas has a cover. Wow. His master was so nice wit it he whipped him AND left his logo on his back. Hmmm. I would have hated to deal with that in photoshop, or even worse in real life. Interesting.
Reactions?
