What a busy weekend! Sorry for the delay on the recap - but here we go…
Stacy rockin a custom Frolab dress!
What a night! Thanks for everyone who came thru and blessed the room with their energy and love. It was a beautiful crowd enjoying a beautiful view…
and most importantly, the beautiful MUSIC! DJ Kaleem, Cha Cha Jones, Proh Mic and Amdex
ALL kept the room feeling good and then Stacy Epps came on and DID HER ThANG!!
She sang the Flying Lotus produced track “Cosmic Dust”, one of my personal favorites produced by Amdex “Addicted”, the Madvillian track (that still gets stuck in my head!) “Eye” & of course the bangin single “Floatin.” Listen to a 22 minute montage of the audio from all my mpegs from the night that were too dark to post the video but we can still enjoy the music!!
Shouts out to her band Rhythm Child - Everette James on drums , Amdex at the tables & Rashida Ali on the flute! & lets talk again about the house and the VIEW!!

Los Angeles 180º around you! It was so beautiful to take in the whole experience. & also we MUST not forget to mention the visual art provided by frolaborators HVW8

Her pieces completely transformed the room and for those of you who were there you got to witness her talent in action as she did a live painting of Stacy.

emoniFela hosted the jam session with Computer Jay on the Fender Rhodes, J1 on drums & more artists adding to the rhythms…
& we had quite a few unexpected guests…
including Prince Po, Droop & DRES! We got some of Flava for the Month and lots of impromptu musical moments that are exactly what’s supposed to happen at jam sessions!
All in all - a really beautiful night. Many thanks to everyone who came out and to the crew -Charyn and Project MuzeEd, Kasey at VeeV, Asya and Fusicology, Asad from Footlong Development, Ty G at HVW8 and everyone at the House of Armour - Chris, Mike - and everyone who helped out before, during & after! The entire event was a fantastic frolaboration!!
The best of wishes go out to Stacy & EJ as they head over to Europe tomorrow for a few months of spreading the music with Roxanne Shante, Bahamadia, Yarah Bravo and Invincible. Cop the album “The Awakening” NOW AVAILABLE ON iTUNES! & also in-store at TurntableLab LA, FatBeats or buy it direct from her myspace page (recently redesigned by Frolab) www.myspace.com/stacyepps! Don’t sleep - this is 1 that your will WANT to listen to… more than once!! In this day and age there aren’t that many new albums that even get repeat status in the rotation - but you can’t even get tired of hearing her sweet and warm voice. & If you happen to be in a town she’s heading to, be sure to check her out!!

What up Frolaborators, It’s been a while since SF had anything posted, busy!
With helping set the Brooklyn Circus store up, since the pop-up shop is done.
I had a lot on the plate, mm.. food! I finally had a day to myself and to express.
Just having aged one more year thanks to June 12, I got a few late presents,
BIG shout the VS for the love. This is really one of the shoes I was looking forward to.
Then to my surprise, Thanks again VS, another belated B-Day gift! The Classic Terminators!
This package reminds that the Nike sports wear site launches soon, 8/8/08, check it out!

As some of you may know the Brooklyn Circus has a pop-up shop
in SF. They’ve recently set up a collaborative party with another shop,
Acrimony, in Hayes valley. I had to be in the place to be and the party

was dope! Of course I took a few frotos?! Check it.

If you buy clothes this is relevant to you! Check out a BET News spotlight on Black models and designers in the fashion industry. Be sure to set your DVRs or tune in live tonight at 8:30pm because you know BET is slack on replayin the good ish! Shouts out to Cat doing her thing behind the scenes!
From the official release:
According to targetmarketnews.com, Black women in the United States spend more than $20 billion on apparel each year. Unfortunately the runways, magazine spreads and the image/beauty industry at large are increasingly ignoring their buying power by choosing instead to market an Eastern-European form of beauty as the standard. At New York’s September 2007 Fashion Week the runways were dominated by white faces. In fact, Black women were more absent from the runways than some fashion insiders have seen since the ’60s. Of the 101 runway shows, more than 1/3 employed no Black models; most of the others used just one or two. So is the fashion industry racist or are Blacks simply not in season? BET News Producers Betsy Jones and Catherine Rogers went behind the scenes of New York’s Fashion Week to find the answer in a half hour special, FASHION BLACKOUT. Industry insiders, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Naomi Campbell, Bethann Hardison, Tyson Beckford, Tracy Reese, André Leon Talley and many others sound off about the sharp decline in African American images in the fashion industry, the blatant racism and their plans on how to keep the Black model from becoming extinct. FASHION BLACKOUT will explore these issues and how the exclusion of an entire race has a negative effect on Black women and their sense of self-worth.
For more on FASHION BLACKOUT, check out the website here.
update: (ok so they ARE gonna replay it!!) If you missed it last night you can catch a re-air Saturday (5/31) at 7:30p and Sunday (6/1) at 11am!

Uptown Saturday nights stay fly ’cause of things like Urban Style Project’s underground shopping parties. We stopped by the mega watt collective’s first sample sale event yesterday and racked up on exclusive designer pieces (think MISU, Ivette Urbaez, and even rare DKNY)

Designers Mio and Bianca held it down for Washington Heights by inviting other designers (male and female) to showcase their top pieces and give us fashion thirsty mortals something to get excited about… well, besides Frolab’s upcoming summer line of course…(soon come, soon come!)

Bianca & Mio :: MISU
MISU nyc
We even got to chat with Ivette Urbaez who was on site with crazy dope gear for the ladies. What we love about Ivette’s pieces is they are original art, self printed on original cuts- and it all comes straight from her own dome. dope.

Designs by Ivette Urbaez

Between the New York backdrop (wow ladies), Presidentes, Asesina Volvio’s, and the unlimited supply of fashion art- Saturday was yet again another reason why we heart NY.

It’s spring in New York and the itch to shed the black on black gear has finally been scratched. Traipsed along the city not too long ago with up and coming fashion designer Nikka Valentine- we ran into the most hype, representin yet another new generation of New York. Cat’s were chillin in Chinatown randomly and upon mention of a pick fro moment, all came together to show us what’s to come…makin me wanna pull out my purple hoodie and lime laces.

On the heels of the latest developments regarding Kanye West’s exclusive Nikes, comes a full blown detail shot of one of the most mysterious and anticipated sneakers in recent memory. The visible Air unit high top features perforated leather and a patent leather strap. Once again, no word yet on availability.
