Got hipped to this from a cat named Will who sent us this press release - Thats what i like to see in the inbox something relevant, informative and good!

Here some info about the project and links to a dope playlist.

“I‘ve never dripped sweat onto the floors of The Ukie, made it out to “Making
Time,” got my fingers dusty at Armands, or stumbled across The Roots rockin’
the corner of 5th & Passyunk. I wasn’t there. So I live vicariously through
you lucky few that were there or are there now. In an effort to exorcise my
envy I started a project called Keys to the City focusing on Philly.

I enlisted the help of my two favorite Philly artists (the Roots and Diplo) and a website that basically taught me about hip-hop (okayplayer) to tell your story to the world wide interweb.”

Keys to the City Philly features:

* Exclusive interviews with the Roots and Diplo (featuring the premiere of a brand new Diplo track).

* ?uestlove came through with his quintessential playlist of songs recorded by Philadelphia natives or written and produced by notable Illadelph residents.

* An exclusive Mad Decent DJ mix (and a chance to win a Mad Decent prize pack).

* An essay on Philly Music by Okay Player.

* Photo slideshows from The Roots Picnic and Mad Decent Block Party.

* A Philly Music playlist by Jazmine Sullivan.

This is not a definitive picture of Philly music as I am not qualified to
present that. It’s an honest attempt at showing the unlucky who have never been what really goes on in your fair city. So I implore you; if you like what I’ve put together than show some love, write something and post a link. If you think I’m missing something (I am) than let me know, post a playlist
to the page, or send me an email. This is your music and your town, so let me hear your voice.

Barkskin® x Ready Made Puzzle Lamp Frolaboration

Adding to our “frohabitat” category, we’ll be sharing highlights of some of our done-it-ourselves home furniture creations and redesigns. First up, “The Puzzle Lamp” aka “IQ lightâ„¢”.

We saw the instructions to make the Puzzle Lamp in the Dec. 2007/Jan 2008 issue of ReadyMade Magazine. They have some suggestions of what materials to use to create the lamp but my first idea was to of course use one of our frolaborator’s products, Barkskinâ„¢, especially since I had some at the house. Barkskinâ„¢ is handpounded tree bark, typically used as wallcovering or lampshades, so its study enough to hold together and I used a compact fluorescent bulb so it won’t get too hot. The color I used is called Ivory and I think it turned out pretty fresh.

I think it would also be interesting w/ an image drawn on the paper first or maybe a grayscale photo printed. If you try it, show us your results!

Happy New Year from your folks here at Frolab. We are back in efx for a great 08.
Shouts out to my partner RUBIX and his lady Meaghan, Hebru and his crew from the Chi who came thru and brought in the new with us.

We kicked off our first year here in LA at my man Brent Rollins and Gabe Alvarez’s (EGO Trip) crib up in the hollywood hills.

A very dope way to bring in the new with good peeps, good music thanks to a slew of LA’s best beatsmiths (TyG,Haycock,Coleman,Gaslamp,JamieStrong)just to name a few.

We finally got over to the MOCA to catch the MURAKAMI exhibit. I will say this much. it was so dope we going again today with Hebru to make sure we seen everything. They won’t let you take any pics so you need to get down there soon.

NY folks- Here’s everything you need to get yo self to Triple Crown’s “Can I Live?” event on Sunday. (yes this Sunday, as in tomorrow…10.28)
Triple Crown has been providing a music venue to NY for years and humbly needs our support now. To read about the novella behind the crazy world of bar ownership in Williamsburg, and why this event is not only worth it because of the DJ line up.

Help spread the word, come thru, SIGN THE PETITION, shake yo tail, pose for flicks, belly laugh, and partake in the many giveaways throughout the evening. (Think good ish, all donated by Puma, Where Brooklyn At, Soundgirl, Kilo Goods, Good Peoples, Breathe Inn, Surface 2 Air, Zoo York, SHQ, Worship Worthy and WB Records). whew.

Can’t say we didn’t warn you… see you Sunday!

X-Large dudes in the neighborhood
So it seems our new neighborhood has a bit of history. Src=XLarge.com

We’ve lived on quite a few interesting blocks in the last few years…

Mitchell Street Crew: Massinflu

The Rolling Stones found Mitchell Street to be a good location for a shoot.
& So did Outkast for So Fresh & So Clean

& then there was our stint in the trap:

Shot down the street from our house.

Shot down the hill from our house.

Shot down the other street from our house.

-
So I guess you could say we’re moving on up?
