Been In This Game For Years

June 19th, 1865 marks the day that the last slaves were freed and is referred to as “Juneteenth.” Growing up, my parents were always heading to a Juneteenth celebration in Maryland, Virginia or South Carolina. Now living on the west coast, I haven’t felt that there is the same kind of connection to ‘black history’ as you feel when in the south. And historically, that makes since. It also doesn’t seem like our younger generation spends much time remembering these ’slave’ holidays but I think its worth mentioning, especially if you don’t know anything about it! Take a little time to think about the ‘freedom’ we are now born with and what you’ve been able to do with it and what you’re not doing with it! Freedom ain’t free! Do something with it! We’ve come a long way but there is still much progress to make - we all have a part to play! Just stay wit it. Here’s a link to a Time magazine brief history on the day and google it for more info if you’re interested.

It’s spring in New York and the itch to shed the black on black gear has finally been scratched. Traipsed along the city not too long ago with up and coming fashion designer Nikka Valentine- we ran into the most hype, representin yet another new generation of New York. Cat’s were chillin in Chinatown randomly and upon mention of a pick fro moment, all came together to show us what’s to come…makin me wanna pull out my purple hoodie and lime laces.

The truth about credit card companies

If you have cable, and have Showtime, be sure to catch “Maxed Out” airing this month. If you don’t get the channel, definitely check out the DVD on Netflix or wherever. This is one of those documentaries YOU GOTTA WATCH if you ever swipe your credit card. Its SOOOOO REAL and very scary but more importantly, eye opening. Don’t get caught out there in credit card debt, and if you are, stop while you can - spend what you got. Credit card companies are CROOKS!!

Master Cleanse #4

Feeling good!! I’m currently on day 5 of my 4th Master Cleanse - Nito is on day 4 of his 3rd. Never done it? Interested? Check out more info here or download the pdf here. Its not a diet -its a cleanse so yes, you loose weight but that’s not why u do it. Its excellent for your body considering the junk most of us put in it and just a nice way to boost energy and feel great. Quite a few folks haven’t been able to get past “10 DAYS WITHOUT FOOD????” - yes. You live 365 of em each year you’ve been here eating, you don’t think you could give your body a rest, a chance to heal, for 10 of em? I must say it is much easier this time bc I know I’ll eat again, in about 6 days - and really its not hunger you experience, its the breaking the habits of eating what u like to eat. its also a head trip and really clarifying for both mind and body. Just sharing if you’re intersted and wanna do something really personal and amazing for yourself. & Then do something nice for yourself once you finish with all the money you saved on overpriced food. See, there are MANY advantages!!!

A few suggestions:

use glass - I really think its better than using a plastic sport cup type thing - buy yourself a glass bottle - I chose Voss (designer master cleansin!) - just something to hold 2 servings at a time.

drink it cold - much more refreshing cold so refresh your stash in the fridge or use cold water to make it.

brush your teeth a lot! - your folks might not let u know but, yeah - check yourself a few times a day! lol!

do the salt water flush at night if you need to - don’t let the morning ‘time crunch’ give you an excuse to not to the entire routine

and don’t quit early just cuz you think you know your body is ready to stop. you can make it. don’t give up!!! this experience will put you more in tune with your body than ever before so don’t give in your own ‘know it allness’.

The Force Calibur?!

So I was running around SF today and I took some reading material with me. I like to keep abreast of what’s happening in the world of entertainment, so I read Wizard magazine. As I was reading I came across some very surprising info about Soul Calibur IV! It’s coming to XBox 360 and PS3 consoles this summer. In addition to being a dope game there areusually a few surprise characters out there, this year, they’re a force to recon with. On the XBox 360 added they have, Yoda!

Soul Yoda

To take it off the Rictor, on the PS3 they’ve add Darth Vader!

Darth Vader

If you’re a Soul Calibur fan like myself this is so what you’ve always wanted! Next year,

FRO CALIBUR!!!!

Yes We Can! will.i.am & friends make music for Obama

Shouts out to will.i.am for putting this together…

Super Tuesday is only 3 days away! Vote Barack!!

From the You Tube page:

According to will.i.am, founding member and frontman of Black Eyed Peas, the “Yes We Can Song” was inspired by Senator Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and especially the speech Obama gave following the New Hampshire primary. He states, “It made me reflect on the freedoms I have, going to school where I went to school, and the people that came before Obama like Martin Luther King, presidents like Abraham Lincoln that paved the way for me. . . .” Dylan says, “The speech was inspiring about making change in America and I believe what it says and I hope everybody votes.”

The music video includes excerpts from Obama’s speech and appearances from several celebrities: Scarlett Johansson, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriquez, Kelly Hu, Adam Rodriquez, Amber Valetta, and Nick Cannon. “I’m blown away by how many people wanted to come and be a part of it in a short amount of time. It was all out of love and hope for change and really representing America and looking at the world,” will.i.am said.

Here’s an interview w/ will and the director about why he made it and how everyone came together to support:
