cooliris is a VERY cool plugin for Firefox (and Flock!) that changes how you view webpages w/ lots of images or videos (google image search, youtube, flickr, myspace, facebook, amazon, etc). It takes over your screen and basically makes it easy to scroll thru all the images like cover flow! Shouts out to Cara who put me up on it - its definitely a new favorite way to surf the net… but be careful, it kinda made me dizzy! They need that video game warning screen!

Profesor Kool Bob Love likes the sounds of that!
Sneakerology 101. Yes that’s right, a university level course dealing with sneaker culture on the whole. Ranging from its roots in the 1970s to its shaping by hip-hop, the internet and basketball among other factors, the course covers the overall impact of sneakers on a worldwide level. The class utilizes Bobbito Garcia’s Where’d You Get Those? for reference as well as various sneaker-based websites. Evaluations include a mid-term project pertaining to the design of a sneaker, incorporating elements acquired along the way. Interested parties can sign up for the class’ next session set for Spring of 2009.
Next up, the Black History Month Air Force Lo 2008

The details are amazing as you will see in the following images. The packaging alone lets you know that these sneakers are not just rare, but gifts from Nike to those individuals who have embodied the spirit of “Giving Back†to their communities. These masterpieces are well thought out and accurately represent the theme at hand: African American history and its origin of culture. The canvas tells a tale of ancient artisans who used the surrounding earth and resources to clothe the community in a garb that carried with it generations of tradition and pride. Mud cloth was used to identify significant moments in an African’s life such as birth, marriage, or death. Like real mud cloth, the canvas used on these AF1’s is unique to each sneaker it adorns. Other elements that Nike used are rich premium earth colored leather and wooden accents. The leather of the vamps and toe box are laser etched with symbols used on mud cloth decorations. The sock liner is also laser etched with inspirational words from Dr. Carter G. Woodson. Wooden lace tips and dubrae round out the awe inspiring details used on these ultra limited editions.

The Mighty Mos Def gave an impromptu performance at the TBG booth in Vegas last week.
Shout out to Mel D of Village Slum for catching the moment. Look for the “Jim Crow Couture”
