We were asked to pitch ideas for the deluxe re-release of Mos Def's classic album "The Ecstatic". This Frolaboration with Rhymesayers + Yasiin Bey gave us a reason to revisit the hard drives and sift thru the moments when Cognito was all around the world documenting Mos Def during the making, release, and touring of the album. With the goal to share these captured moments with the fans, as well as to design and create a beautiful archival offering, curated and crafted to really stand out on true collectors book and record sheleves worldwide, we created this photo book - along with a capsule collection of merchandise. Working on this project has been a complete honor and we’re so proud of how it turned out.

THE BOOK DESIGN
This 120 Page Book design with Red Transparent Slip Case with thumb notch contains double 180g black vinyl - 1 inside each cover. The front (A/B) and back (C/D) covers have records inside spot varnished sleeves, and there is also a bonus red 7” that is sleekly slid into the last page. Transluscent vellum with the artist’s handwritten track listing greets you on the intro, and his thank yous on the outro.
The book shares a mix of behind the scenes photos from the making of the album and from around the world including South Africa and the North American album tour. Lyrics are sprinkled throughout as captions and as full spreads as you journey through the archive.
